Las Vegas local wins Boyd Gaming's Pai Gow Poker

August 2, 2022

A Las Vegas resident won a jackpot after hitting Boyd Gaming's regional linked Pai Gow Poker at The Orleans Hotel and Casino on Friday. He is a regular patron of The Orleans and has requested to remain anonymous.

He and his wife were playing Face Up Pai Gow Poker on Friday late afternoon when he hit a seven-card straight flush. This resulted in him capturing a Pai Gow Poker progressive jackpot of $338,703.99. He also won an additional $5,000 from placing a dragon bonus side bet.

The win was the first Pai-Gow progressive jackpot since July last year when a lucky player won $119,000 at The Orleans. Boyd Gaming's Pai Gow Poker progressive jackpot has now been reset to $75,158.

Six Boyd Gaming destinations participate in the company's regional linked Pai Gow Poker progressive. Other than The Orleans, there are also Gold Coast Hotel and Casino, Aliante Casino Hotel Spa, Cannery Casino & Hotel, Sam's Town Hotel & Gambling Hall and Suncoast Hotel and Casino.

According to Boyd Gaming, players have a chance of winning a bigger jackpot than what individual properties could offer by offering the Pai Gow Poker progressive at multiple destinations citywide.

About Boyd Gaming

Boyd Gaming has a long-standing company philosophy called "Caring the Boyd Way", which has it committed to advancing Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) initiatives that positively impact the company's stakeholders and communities.

The company reported financial results for the second quarter, which ended on June 30, 2022. Boyd Gaming's president and CEO, Keith Smith, was pleased with the result, having delivered a strong quarter.

"We delivered another strong quarter, with quarterly Adjusted EBITDAR that was second only to last year's record results. The second quarter of 2021 was a challenging comparison due to benefits from government stimulus and the lifting of COVID restrictions," Smith said.

Throughout the second quarter of 2022, Boyd Gaming reported its second-best quarterly adjusted EBITDAR performance in the company's history. Operating margins after corporate expenses were 39.6 percent, exceeding 39 percent for the fifth straight quarter.

"This quarter's excellent results were driven by a continued focus on our core customer and sustained efficiencies throughout our business. Our operating trends remain strong, as play from core customer segments grew both year-over-year and sequentially from the first quarter of 2022," Smith continued.

The company reported a Q2 2022 revenue of $894.5 million, which is a slight improvement from its Q2 2021 revenue of $893.6 million. The company also reported a $146.8 million net income or 41.33 per share for the Q2 of 2022, up from $113.7 million or $1.00 per share from last year.

Boyd Gaming is also progressing toward completing the acquisition of Pala Interactive for cash consideration of $170 million. It anticipated that it would close on the purchase by the end of the year.

Additionally, Boyd Gaming also has plans to open Sky River Casino near Sacramento, California, in early September this year. The company has a seven-year management agreement to run Sky River on behalf of the Wilton Rancheria tribe.
