January 13, 2022

The introduction of mobile sports betting in New York came and went with enormous fanfare. Four top-rated sportsbooks (DraftKings, FanDuel, Caesars, and BetRivers) launched on Saturday, Jan 8th, but the 5th amongst the giants, BetMGM sportsbook, was not a part of this.

New York is the largest state to date to open up mobile sports betting. By looking at the enormous promos offered by the four up and running mobile sportsbooks, it is evident that New York is a state that they are taking seriously. Tremendous odds boosts, free bets, and deposit bonuses are available for New Yorkers that want to start wagering on their favorite sports teams.

Will online casinos become legal in New York?

With the lack of legal online casinos, sports betting is the product that New York residents can enjoy if they want to gamble on legal online gambling sites.

But, will NY online casino gambling at some point become legal in the Empire State? We want to think so and hope that New York will copy the neighboring states, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, where both online sports, poker, and casino is legal.

When this potentially will happen is hard to predict. Still, we would not expect any legalization of online casino gambling in New York before at the earliest 2023 and even more likely sometime in 2024-2025 if it happens at all.
