Gamesys – The company behind Virgin Casino

In the spotlight today, we have Gamesys, the owners of Virgin Casino. Virgin Casino was originally founded in the UK by the legendary Sir Richard Branson in 2003. 

But, how did Gamesys end up becoming the owner of Virgin Casino?

The British multi entrepreneur's plans to challenge the established UK gambling giants did not pay off and Virgin Casino was struggling to gain traction in the UK until 2013 when Virgin Casino was acquired by Gamesys. 

The turnaround for Virgin Casino started after Gamesys took control over the online casino. Gamesys launched Virgin online casino on the US market in New Jersey in 2014.

Gamesys has a strong presence on the US market through Virgin Casino and partnerships with Tropicana Casino and Caesars Casino.

We only focus on Virgin Online Casino in this article, even though Gamesys is in close partnership with Tropicana and Caesars the ownership structure for those brands is diverse. So what can be said about Virgin Casino that is not already mentioned?

Unlike SugarHouse PA, SugarHouse NJ, and Golden Nugget, which we have already covered in previous articles, Virgin Online Casino is not backed by a brick-and-mortar casino in NJ or PA. 

Their casino license is through a partnership with (you might have guessed who already) Tropicana Atlantic City Casino and Resort.
