Guest hits Wheel of Fortune jackpot in Las Vegas casino, wins $1.4 million

The D Hotel and Casino Las Vegas witnessed one of its players hit a massive jackpot last Wednesday. According to the casino, the unidentified winner won $1.4 million overnight.
The guest was playing the International Game Technology (IGT) signature Wheel of Fortune slot machine when the moment worthy of a celebration took place. The jackpot reached an exact amount of $1,437,768.17.

On its Twitter account, @theDlasvegas, the casino announced the celebratory news with a ten-second video. The video contains the Wheel of Fortune slot machine, showcasing the jackpot of $1,437,768.17 written in big letters at the very top.
"One lucky Wheel of Fortune spinner is now $1,437,768.17 richer!" said the account. "Enjoy that massive win!"
An announcement box on the machine was also seen in the video. It popped up with an instruction for the winner to "call attendant" since a verification was required to collect the "jackpot handpay".
According to the local TV station, CBS’ KLAS-TV Channel 8, a triple diamond of Wheel of Fortune symbols must line up to hit the jackpot. There was no word regarding how much the player had spent before hitting the jackpot. However, they might have gambled a mere $5 per spin.
Last big Wheel of Fortune payouts
William J. from Van Nuys was the recipient of the last big payout in Las Vegas, Nevada, and other areas in California. In March, William J. was at Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport when he decided to casually play a Wheel of Fortune slot in the B Concourse.
It was unknown whether he was waiting for his flight or had just returned. The airport did not reveal how much he spent on the spin either.
More recently, on April 4, another lucky player recorded a $3.8 million win from playing the Wheel of Fortune slot machine at Mohegan Sun Casino and Resort in Connecticut. The winner decided to anonymize their identity, but a representative of the casino said that it was the biggest jackpot that the Uncasville property has seen in almost 20 years.
Previous Wheel of Fortune jackpots
Before Wednesday’s jackpot, IGT boasted about its Wheel of Fortune slot by saying the popular title made two gamblers millionaires earlier this year.
The company reported that a player at the Bellagio in Las Vegas received $1.48 million last March after they played the Wheel of Fortune and hit Triple Gold.
Another lucky winner earned $1.31 million that same month. The winner was playing at the California Hotel & Casino in downtown Las Vegas when they hit Wheel of Fortune’s Triple Red Hot 7s.

The establishment is owned by the Stevens brothers, Derek and Greg, the hotel itself is a 34-story building that offers 629 guestrooms and suites. It has also recently partnered with Circa Resort to give eligible guests complimentary access to the 4,000-person capacity Circa Stadium Swim.
